About Somatic Breathwork
Somatic breathwork is a powerful, body-based practice designed to help regulate your nervous system, release stuck energy, and create space for insights and emotional clarity. This is not your normal breathing class, this is a dynamic, deep inner cleanse — a nervous system “rinse” that leaves you feeling grounded, expanded, and blissed out (yes, even a little high on your own supply).

ABOUT WALTER PAYTON COLLEGE PREP

Spring Fundraiser Overview
Walter Payton College Prep, located close to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile,  is preparing for the 2025 Annual Spring Fundraiser on April 25, 2025.  We need your support.  Below, please find information regarding why Walter Payton College Prep is a worthy recipient of your resources and a W9 showing our 501-C3 non-profit status for your records!

What makes Walter Payton College Preparatory High School Special?
Walter Payton College Prep is a public, selective-enrollment high school that is a 2021 National Blue Ribbon Award recipient and was named the #1 public high school in Illinois and #5 in the nation by Niche. All of this has been achieved despite chronic underfunding of Chicago Public Schools. The Payton community is wonderfully diverse, drawing students from every zip code in Chicago. Approximately 37% of our families live at or below the poverty level, and an

additional 16% live paycheck-to-paycheck just above the poverty line, however, 98% of our students go on to attend college. In fact, Newsweek has ranked Payton as the 7th best high school nationally for “Beating the Odds”, i.e. for how well Payton prepares students to overcome obstacles posed by socioeconomic inequality.

Why Donate?
The continued success of Payton students relies on the support from collaboration between businesses like you and the school community.  Donating an item/experience for our Spring Fundraiser/Gala is a key way this is achieved. Payton receives 18% less funding than the average Chicago Public high school due to lack of federal support for schools like Payton. The funding it does receive covers only the basic costs of operations and paying most teachers’ salaries. Essentially everything else: books, 1-to-1 computers for students, science lab supplies, and teachers for many AP classes must be funded by donors/fundraising.

Walter Payton College Prep is a special place in the city of Chicago. It embodies many of the best aspects of our city, and the students, alumni and community.
